Appointment FAQs

Do I need to do anything before my session?
New Clients are requested to fill out the New Client Forms before their first appointment.  Otherwise, there is nothing that you need to do but to try to enter the session as open-minded as possible.

How long are my sessions?
Dr. Ujifusa offers 50 minute sessions for individuals.  Couple sessions can either be conducted in 50 minute sessions or 75 minute increments.

How often are the sessions?
Dr. Ujifusa typically conducts sessions with clients at least one time per week in order to maximize positive results and maintain the therapeutic relationship.  Many clients attend therapy more than one time per week in order to deepen one’s self work and to enhance understanding of their psychological dynamics.  Frequency of sessions is agreed upon by both Dr. Ujifusa and the client.

Can I see you on Saturdays?
Yes, clients are seen on Saturdays from 8:00 to 12:00.

How long should I be in therapy?
The length of one’s personal therapy is not pre-determined, rather it is linked to each client’s own personal goals and the degree to which certain psychological symptoms are interfering with their quality of life.  The length of therapy is thus tailored specifically for each client.

Do you prescribe medication?
No, psychotherapists do not prescribe medications.  Medical doctors, Physicians Assistants and Nurse Practitioners can prescribe psychotropic medications.  Clients may be referred to their medical doctor for a trial of medication or a medication adjustment if they are currently using psychotropic medications.

Do you take insurance?
If you decide to submit your sessions to your health care provider I will provide you with a statement to submit to your provider.

What payment methods are accepted?
